Description
xEterra Raptor Boom Arm Mower for Skid Steer
The Eterra Raptor Boom Arm gives a skid steer something it fundamentally lacks: reach. Instead of driving along a ditch bank or shoulder, you park on stable ground and swing the boom out over it. Fit a sickle bar, flail or rotary head and one machine covers work that would otherwise need an excavator. Hoses, couplers and your choice of controller are included. Recommended for skid steers of at least 6,000 lbs. Available from Skid Steer Store.
What Reach Changes
- Stay on stable ground — cut ditch bottoms, banks and shorelines without putting tracks near the edge.
- Follow the terrain — boom articulation angles the head to the slope in a way a direct-mount mower cannot.
- Reach over obstacles — work past guardrail, fences and water without repositioning.
- One arm, five heads — sickle bars in three widths, the Sidewinder flail and the Cyclone rotary all mount to it.
- Controller included — choose your control setup with purchase.
- Excavator capability without an excavator — for crews already running a skid steer.
Install Kit Options
| Kit | Best For |
|---|---|
| Permanent | A dedicated mowing machine where the Raptor stays fitted through the season |
| Temporary | A machine that also runs buckets, forks and other attachments between mowing work |
Available Mower Heads
| Head | Cut | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 5 Ft. Sickle Bar | 5 ft. shear cut | Obstacle-dense sites; maximum control |
| 7 Ft. Sickle Bar | 7 ft. shear cut | Balanced coverage and control |
| 9 Ft. Sickle Bar | 9 ft. shear cut | Long open runs; highest acres per hour |
| Sidewinder Flail | 36" mulching | Heavier brush; fine finish; contained discharge |
| Cyclone Rotary | 48" rotary | Rough clearing and speed over open ground |
Heads are sold separately and interchange on the same arm, so one Raptor covers grass, brush and rough clearing across the season.
Machine Requirements
Eterra recommends a skid steer of at least 6,000 lbs. The Raptor puts weight and leverage well forward of the quick-attach plate, and that leverage grows with head size — a 9 ft. sickle bar at full extension asks considerably more of the machine than a 5 ft. If you are near the 6,000 lb threshold, contact Skid Steer Store before ordering.
Common Applications
County and highway right-of-way, drainage ditch and canal maintenance, pond and shoreline trimming, levees and embankments, fence lines and hedgerows, utility corridors, and municipal contract mowing on terrain a machine cannot safely travel.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size skid steer do I need?
At least 6,000 lbs. Larger heads at full extension demand more stability, so heavier machines give more usable reach.
Are mower heads included?
No. The Raptor is the boom arm. Heads are sold separately and interchange on the same arm.
Permanent or temporary install kit?
Permanent suits a dedicated mowing machine. Temporary suits a loader that also runs buckets and forks between mowing jobs.
What is included?
Hoses, couplers and your choice of controller ship with the arm.
Raptor or an excavator-mounted mower?
The Raptor makes sense if you already own a skid steer and want reach without buying a second machine. If you run an excavator, mount the head directly to it instead.
