Description
xEterra Hex Auger Extension for Skid Steer
Eterra hex auger extensions add depth when the hole needs to go deeper than the bit alone can reach. Each extension takes a 2" hex input and gives a 2" hex output, so it drops between your auger drive and bit without adapters. Available in 24", 48", 72" and a 72" telescopic from Skid Steer Store.
Extension Lengths
| Length | Adds | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|
| 24" | 2 ft. | Deeper frost-line footings; modest added depth |
| 48" | 4 ft. | Deep post holes; cold-climate frost depth |
| 72" | 6 ft. | Pilings, deep footings, water and utility work |
| 72" Telescopic | Up to 6 ft., adjustable | Varying depths without swapping extensions |
The telescopic extends and retracts as needed, which is worth the premium when hole depth varies across a job. Fixed extensions are simpler and cheaper when depth is consistent.
Fitment
| Specification | Detail |
|---|---|

| Compatible Bits | All Eterra 2" hex earth auger bits |
Before You Add Depth
An extension moves the bit further from the drive, which increases leverage on the output shaft and reduces the machine's effective reach into the hole. Deep holes in hard ground also demand more torque than shallow ones. If you are combining a long extension with a large bit, confirm your drive is sized for it — the 3500 or 4500 is the safer choice.
Related Auger Accessories
- Earth auger bits — 4" to 36" diameters, all 2" hex.
- Hex auger adapters — convert between 2" hex, 2" round and 2-9/16" round.
- Auger stump planer — 10" and 14" stump removal heads.
- Cement mixing bowl — mix footings with the same drive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my auger drive and bit?
Yes, if both use a 2" hex connection, which is standard across the Eterra auger range.
Can I stack two extensions?
Mechanically the connections allow it, but stacking multiplies leverage on the output shaft and makes the assembly hard to control. A single longer extension is the better answer.
Which should I choose, fixed or telescopic?
Fixed if your hole depth is consistent. Telescopic if depth varies across the job and you would otherwise be swapping extensions.
Do I need a bigger drive to use an extension?
Not necessarily, but deep holes in hard ground draw more torque. Pairing a long extension with a large bit is where a 3500 or 4500 earns its cost.
