Description
xEterra Stinger Spiral Splitter for Skid Steer
The Eterra Stinger spiral splitter turns your auger drive into a log splitter. The tapered spiral screws itself into the round and forces it apart along the grain — no ram, no cycle time waiting for a cylinder to return, no separate machine. Mounts to the 2" hex output of any Eterra auger drive. Available from Skid Steer Store.
Why a Spiral Splitter
- No cycle time — a hydraulic ram splitter makes you wait for the return stroke. The spiral simply keeps turning.
- Uses your auger drive — no dedicated splitter to buy, tow, store or maintain.
- Handles awkward rounds — knots and forks that jam a ram splitter usually yield to a spiral.
- Split at the pile — the machine goes to the wood instead of the wood coming to the machine.
- Two shaft options — available in 2" hex or 2-9/16" round to suit your drive.

Operating Notes
A spiral splitter works by threading itself into the wood, which means it pulls the round toward the drive as it bites. Rounds want to be stable and clear of your feet before the spiral engages. Torque matters more than speed here — the 3500 and 4500 drives handle large, knotty hardwood rounds more comfortably than the 2500.

Common Applications
Firewood production, storm cleanup, land clearing follow-up, forestry and land management, and any operation already running an auger drive that also processes wood.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my auger drive?
It is available in 2" hex or 2-9/16" round. Eterra drives use 2" hex as standard.
How does this compare to a hydraulic ram splitter?
A spiral has no cycle time and handles knotty wood better. A ram splitter is more predictable on clean, uniform rounds and keeps the wood further from the operator.
Which drive should I run it on?
Any Eterra drive will turn it, but large knotty hardwood favours the torque of a 3500 or 4500.
Does it need extra hydraulics?
No. It runs off your existing auger circuit and needs no case drain.
